Writing Coaching

More flexible than a writing course. More personal than a scoring service.

5 COMMON REASONS PARENTS SIGN UP:

  1. Quantity and quality of feedback.

  2. Step-by-step instruction.

  3. Customized lessons when you need them.

  4. Third-party accountability for student.

  5. Personal nurturing of the young writer’s talent.

  6. Service can be shared among siblings.

There is limited availability and preference is given to longstanding clients. Consider purchasing early to reserve your spot, especially for fall enrollment. Note: Writing Coaching is now only available only as a bundle with Office Hours.

Mentoring

How to Assign and Grade High School Essays (self-paced course)

Ms. Finnigan offers a mentoring course for parents who are making an academic plan for late middle school and high school and want to know what to do about writing. Whether you want to assign and grade the writing yourself, or hire someone else to do it, this course will give you direction and confidence. You may want to watch the video “Teaching Writing in High School: Goodbye to Three Letter Programs” for more information about Ms. Finnigan’s approach to teaching writing, before purchasing this course.

Level Up Your Writing for High School (bundle for parent & child)

This bundle includes the course above plus two student writing courses. If you are willing and able to be your child’s writing coach in high school, this bundle could be the last writing course you will ever need. With a small investment of time — 4 hours of video-based instruction for the student, and 3.25 hours of additional training for the parent — this bundle gives parent and student the knowledge they need to integrate more writing into their high school humanities courses and tailor assignments to the student’s interests and needs.

Paper Check-Up Service

Parents who have been through her “Level Up” course can receive ongoing support by sending Ms. Finnigan occasional student papers for grading and feedback, for an objective gauge of progress.

"Ms. Finnigan’s Level Up for High School course bundle was the best investment I have made for my daughter’s Language Arts instruction! … [It] encouraged me and gave me confidence to evaluate essays for improvement and growth."
